Three rules keep your purchase price honest. First, always compare on Rs per watt, never per panel, a 560 Wp and a 595 Wp panel at the same per-piece rate are not the same deal. Second, ask for the price breakup with GST shown separately and map it to the right HSN code for solar panels, because the composite supply rate differs from a pure goods sale. Miss any one layer and the whole stack fails at inspection or subsidy disbursement.     The reply must name the cell manufacturer and confirm it is on ALMM List-II. "Indian module" is not an answer. Get it on the quotation or invoice so you have recourse later.

    Photograph the serial label on 3 to 5 random panels per pallet and the flash-test datasheet in the box. Mismatched lots are the number one reason subsidy claims stall at the DISCOM inspection stage.

    Check the manufacturer's dealer locator or call their regional office. Grey-market panels at Rs 1/W below market usually carry no valid warranty and no DCR paperwork.

A myth worth correcting here: "bigger wattage panel is always better value." False for rooftops. A 625 Wp panel is physically larger, harder to handle on a staircase, and often leaves dead zones on a chopped-up residential roof.
